Ulaanbaatar Conference on Nuclear Physics and Applications,
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, September 8-11, 2008

Dear Colleagues,
This is the first announcement of the Ulaanbaatar Conference on Nuclear Physics and Applications, to be organized in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on September 8-11, 2008. The conference is the inaugural event of the newly established Mongolian-American Scientific Research Center (in short, the MonAme Center). One of the primary goals of the MonAme Center is to help advance the emerging Mongolian economy in the areas of nuclear sciences and of higher education. The conference is co-organized by the Nuclear Energy Commission of Mongolia, the National University of Mongolia, and the Mongolian Academy of Sciences.
The focus of the conference is broad: nuclear reactions and structure, nuclear modeling and computation, statistical properties of nuclei as quantum many body systems, nuclear data, and, applications of nuclear physics. The goal of the conference is to bring together nuclear physicists and nuclear scientists from around the world to Mongolia to present the highlights of their research. The conference will include sessions on:
- Nuclear reactions (neutron and charged particle induced reactions)
- Nuclear structure and spectroscopy
- Fundamental nuclear physics
- Nuclear data and data evaluation
- Nuclear physics applications in medicine and reactors
- Nuclear sciences education
There will be plenary, invited presentations, and parallel sessions with contributed talks as well as a poster session. The conference registration deadline is June 1, 2008. The arrangement for hotel accommodations and for organized tourist activity as part of the conference will be posted on the website.
