A collaboration of American trained Mongolians and other US scientists have recently established the Mongolian-American Scientific Research Center (MonAme) in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Our institute, a non-governmental, not for profit, academic organization, aims to promote scientific and technical cooperation between Mongolia and the United States. We envision our institute will undertake a variety of projects to further this goal. The center will host visiting scholars and provide collaborative research opportunities between Mongolians and US scientists in various fields. MonAme will create technical and scientific education programs important to the economic development of Mongolia. The institute will also host and organize international conferences to raise worldwide awareness of scientific and technical issues important for Mongolia and promote collaborative efforts between Mongolia and other nations. The participation of young scientists and scholars in all activities will be strongly encouraged.
Upcoming international conference
The center's first efforts will be devoted to facilitate international collaboration in the field of nuclear physics. During September 8-11, 2008, our center is organizing "Ulaanbaatar Conference on Nuclear Physics and Applications". We hope to attract researchers and scientists from both developing and developed countries. Our potential US collaborators include scientists affiliated with North Carolina State University, University of California Davis, Stanford University and other US institutes. We are also collaborating with the National University of Mongolia and the Mongolian National Academy of Sciences.
